o Will you accept a first-time traveler Travel experience preferredPatient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o Variety of MedSurg:
DM (no insulin gtts), Respiratory illnesses, GI illnesses, Neuro sx, Trauma sx, spinal precautions
o Cardiac and CT surgery – pre-CT surgery (CABG), Cath lab patients (clean Cath) – will manage TR bandsPatient Ratios:
o RN: 1:5
o CNA: 1:10
Required Licensure & Certifications:
o BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team requirement)Skills required:
o Cardiac rhythm interpretation, PCA pumps, all types of surgical drains, wound care, TR Bands
o Gtts that traveler will manage: Cardizem, Nitro and Amio – must be comfortable to learn
Support within the Department:
o CNA: Supports the RN by obtaining VS and blood glucose checks; assists with hourly safety rounds and ADLs.
o Receptionist/HUC
o Charge nurse – free floating. On occasion, may have a full assignment
o Phlebotomy Yes, peripheral blood draws
o IV/VAT Team No, we start our own IVs.
o RT 24/7 Yes, available – will need to page for assistance when needed
o Hospitalist 24/7
o Intensivist 24/7
o Telemetry monitoring/tech Telemetry monitors by bedside – RN will read and interpret cardiac strips

o Med dispensing: Omnicell
