Job description: This is a contract job opportunity. potential for permPosition: Phlebotomist 5181Location: Thomasville NCSchedule:8am-5pm M-FProjected duration: 3 months + potential for permjob code: CVDJP00035181Benefits are availableTask Overview:The primary role of a blood collection specialist is to help with executing a variety of assigned tasks, problem-solving, coaching, and suggesting workflow improvements.Key Responsibilities:Conducting blood draws, labeling samples, spinning samples, documenting maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient details, etc.Gathering and storing samples following established protocols. Clearly explaining the venipuncture process in a respectful manner or collecting other specimens (e.g. urine or fecal) as neededDemonstrating skills using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Having a thorough understanding of all physician orders. Matching laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes. Labeling, spinning, splitting, and freezing samples as per test requirements.Verifying all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.Preparing specimens for transportationStoring sample specimens at correct temperature, placing them in suitable collection containers/tubes, labeling accurately, and following specific procedures for transport as required to preserve specimen integrity. Adhering to OSHA and DEP regulations.Attending annual departmental training sessionsResponding to phone inquiries, interpreting laboratory results for resolution of queries.Basic Requirements:Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment where requiredAt least 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital environmentProficient in Microsoft Office SuiteHigh School Diploma or GEDminimum 2 years of experience
