Job description: Job Summary:This role is for a Sterile Processing Technician responsible for the decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment. The technician will work in various areas of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD), including sterile processing, decontamination, and assembly/wrapping, and will float to different hospital units as needed. The position requires a minimum of two years of experience, with first-time travelers needing four years of experience. The work involves a high volume of trays and peel-pouched items, and requires proficiency with various sterilization equipment and techniques.Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina, United States,Responsibilities:– Decontaminate, assemble, and wrap surgical instruments and equipment.
– Operate and maintain sterilization equipment (autoclaves, washers, ultrasonic cleaners).
– Sterilize instruments and supplies according to established procedures.
– Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes.
– Float to various hospital units (OR, Women’s Center, L&D, ICU, ER, General Surgery, Urology, and outside practices) as needed.
– Adhere to infection control protocols.
– Participate in unit orientation and training.
– Perform other duties as assigned.Required Skills & Certifications:– Minimum two years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician (four years for first-time travelers).
– Proficiency in decontamination, assembly, and sterilization techniques.
– Experience with Davinci, washer, ultrasonic and cart washer equipment.
– CBSPD or IAHCSMM certification.
– Active Registered Nurse license in the state of working.Preferred Skills & Certifications:– Experience with Censitrac, Steris autoclaves/sterilizers, EPS, vPRO, Sterrad 100S, Sterrad NX, and Trophon Case cart.Special Considerations:– Willingness to float to various hospital units.
– Rotating weekend and holiday work required.
– Handles all surgery cases (General, ortho, neuro, neuro spines, robotics, ENT, urology, plastics, OB).
– 7-day maximum return-to-office (RTO) period for Aya Auto Offer.
– 13-week contracts accepted.Scheduling:– Eight-hour shifts (30-minute lunch break).
– Shift times: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM.
– Possible weekend work.
– 40 hours per week may be offered.
– Unit schedules/block scheduling.
– Two-day unit orientation, plus hospital orientation during the first week.
