Job description: Job Summary:This role involves performing Computed Tomography (CT) scans on a variety of patients, primarily in an emergency department setting. The CT Technologist is responsible for patient preparation, scan acquisition, and image processing, adhering to established protocols and safety standards. The position requires proficiency in various CT techniques and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.Location: Kernersville, North Carolina, United States.,Responsibilities:– Performing CT scans of the abdomen, pelvis, chest, head and neck, and spine, including those with and without contrast.
– Performing special procedures such as brain perfusion and vascular CTA.
– Assisting with patient transport to and from the CT scanner.
– Preparing and administering contrast media.
– Maintaining radiation safety protocols.
– Starting peripheral IVs (as needed).
– Performing EKGs (as needed).
– Assisting with patient movement and transport for all modalities.
– Maintaining and cleaning equipment.
– Documenting patient care and procedures.
– Working with various imaging systems (PACS and Siemens).Required Skills & Certifications:– ARRT (CT) certification.
– BLS certification.
– Minimum of 1 year of experience in adult acute care settings, specifically emergency department settings.
– Proficiency in performing various CT scan types (abdomen, pelvis, chest, head and neck, spine).
– Knowledge of isolation precautions and radiation safety.
– Ability to start peripheral IVs.Preferred Skills & Certifications:– ARRT (R) certification.
– Experience in adult outpatient and Level I trauma settings.
– Proficiency in advanced CT techniques (enterography, intravenous pyelogram, heart studies, sinus studies, soft tissue neck imaging, trauma head imaging, CT arthrography, myelography, colonography).
– Experience performing aspirations, biopsies, and drainages.
– Experience with EKGs and portable X-rays.
– Experience with extremities, abdomen/GI, spine/pelvis, head, chest/thorax, and musculoskeletal imaging.Special Considerations:– The position requires working every weekend.
– No on-call or float requirements.
– The facility is stroke-accredited and has a high patient census.
– The unit uses Epic for documentation and communication.
– A 16-24 hour unit orientation is required in addition to the hospital’s new hire orientation.
– Royal blue scrubs are required.Scheduling:– Three 12-hour shifts per week (6 AM to 6:30 PM).
– Saturday/Sunday/Monday schedule.
– Shift assignments are determined by the manager.
